David Goffin turned back the clock as he finally struck gold on grass to claim his first title on the surface to cap off a faultless week here at Ilkley. It took the Belgian until the semi-final to drop his first set before rallying to reach his first final in nine months.
Goffin’s fine form across his week continued in the final where he dispatched Frenchman Harold Mayot 6-4 6-2 to claim a first title since January 2023 and return to the top 100 in the rankings.
On the women’s side of the draw Rebecca Marino also claimed a maiden grass-court title as she fought back from a set down in the final to defeat Jessika Ponchet 4-6 6-1 6-4. Having briefly retired from the sport in 2023, Marino has taken home 9 ITF titles since her return with her win in Ilkley giving her a memorable tenth.
Nine-time Grand Slam doubles champion Kristina Mladenovic teamed up with Romania’s Elena Gabriela Ruse as the top seeds in the Ladies doubles. The pair took on second seeds Quinn Gleason and Qianhui Tang in the final and defeated them 6-2 6-2 to claim the Ilkley Title.
In the Men’s doubles, all American pair Evan King and Reese Stalder stormed through to the final as the fourth seeds. There they faced America’s Christian Harrison and France’s Fabrice Martin in a close three-set battle, eventually taking the title 6-3 3-6 10-6.
